PURULIA FACTS
The territory of present Purulia distrct was a part of one of India's ancient kingdoms. During this medieval period, the territory was part of Jharkand. Present Purulia district was formed on November 1, 1956 after the partition of the states Bihar and West Bengal. Purulia has a rich cultural heritage, mixing cultures from Bengal, Jharkhand, and Orissa.
